The American Dental Association recommends that you have a routine dental checkup performed every six months. Here at Borgmeyer Dental, our routine dental checkup includes many important facets to help maintain the health of your teeth and mouth.

The checkup begins with a routine dental cleaning to remove hardened tartar from your teeth. During the cleaning our skilled hygienist will also be looking for any overt signs of gum disease or tooth decay. X-rays might need to be taken in order to get a clear picture of the health of a questionable tooth.

Once the hardened tartar has been removed the hygienist, they will thoroughly floss your teeth and polish away minor surface stains. If your teeth are moderately or deeply stained, you might want to inquire about your tooth whitening options.

Then a Borgmeyer Dental dentist will then examine your mouth and check your teeth for any signs of decay as well as inspecting your gums for signs of gum disease. At the end of the checkup your dentist will also check your tongue, throat, face, head, and neck looking for any signs of infection, swelling, or oral cancer.

Having a regular checkup is an essential element of your oral hygiene routine. If you are due for your next dental checkup, please call Borgmeyer Dental at 314-351-6554 to schedule an appointment.
